The diary - catchup and advance notice
Sep. 23rd, 2008 09:33 amLast weekend - Dave went off to the last ACW event of the season, I stayed howm and slept, and slept, and slept. I'd had Friday afternoon off so I could go too, but in the end it was just Dave, not camping, and travelling up early Saturday morning. Got next to nothing done. I think I had a bug or something, I just know I was so out of energy that getting up the stairs was an effort.
Next weekend - was supposed to be quiet, writing, painting armies. Dave's discovered a "wine tasting experience" we were given for Xmas, that's about to run out, so we're going down to London and doing that for the afternoon. Lunch out (to line the stomachs), wine all afternoon, then a meal out in the evening.
The weekend after that (4th/5th) really will be quiet and painting armies (and other things, and creating a gameboard and some writeups), because 11th/12th is HOTT in the Ring (15mm armies, from the official lists for once), and 18th/19th is Furnace, where I'm running the Duck Point Boat Race (again).
One submission for Hearts in Glorantha 2 is in, I may finish off an article as well, or that might go for issue 3.
The deadline for the Furnace con book is....??? "The deadline for the Furnace 2008 Con Book is Monday 6th October 2008" sez Darren. OK. Story done, but passed to a couple of critics/friends for checking. I have a problem with both this and the one for HiG of trying to explain the background for people who are new to it: both stories were originally written on the assumption of an audience who already knew where we were, who the charaters were, and most of what was going on. Large chunks of "Gentle reader, let me explain" do not fit in a short story.
Renaissance Kingdoms is eating far too much of my time (I'm Lancaster's Trade Minister), and I'm actually looking forward to the end of this council term, when I resign and take things easy. Yes, me, taking on too much again. I either do a job to the best of my ability, or I fail to do so and feel guilty about it (other people's opinions on how well I'm doing it are irrelevant). So I'll drop it, and have a break. 18 days and counting.
