Who, me, take on too much?

Spent the evening over at Chris' last night, being fed on various medieval cookery experiments, discussing what to do for the food at Letton, and so on. And Tracey and the girls were there, and it seems they're all coming to Letton. Great, first full weekend revel for them. "So what are you doing about extra garb?" I asked. It seems they weren't. One dress each, all weekend. And Diane's at least was never intended for running around in.
So.... we pulled out a tape (OK, this is Chris, it was a wargamer's steel rule) and his fabric stash, and considered essentials, order of priority, and (in Amanda's case) colour preference. Top priority, we said, was something to run around in. I've suggested leggings or wooly tights, and a tunic each - OK, so it's male not female garb, but it's length-irrelevant, and a T-tunic is easy enough to make up. Chris has brown wool that will be fine, and nice and soft next to the skin.
And they left. And then Chris mentioned the problems of Outside, January, and the distance between the two halls at Letton. Cloaks, then. A rectangular cloak is easy enough to make up, and I've got spare cloak pins, where's the heavy cloth in the fabric stash? Ah. Heavy, yes, close-woven, no. But if I lined it....? but rectangular cloaks don't generally get lined. So we go semi-circular. Oh, and it'll need a hood. I've never made one of those before, but Chris has a hood in his garb stash I can inspect.
By midnight we'd cut out two small hooded cloaks, reversible in grey and Strongoak Burgundy. One has the hood fully assembled and attached to the body, and has been left with Chris for him to do the main seams. I've got the bits for the other, and the brown wool for the tunics. And will look in the Fabric Stash for some pink cloth for a Pretty Dress for Amanda - Diane has a thing with Big Sleeves in red imitation silk, she has a tube dress, and she wants to go Posh. I'm feeling a bit guilty that their mum will still only have one dress, but she's probably less likely to want to run around getting muddy than her daughters. And being adult size (few inches shorter than me and half the width), it's easier to find loan garb for her.
right, off to:
1) wash up
2) make breakfast, once I can find the kitchen
3) clear figure-painting stuff from the hobby room, and transform it from "Wargamer lives here" to "Garb production line".
oh yes, and:
research Sauce Madame to go with roast goose
find a "period" approximation to Bread&Butter Pudding for Heidi
figure out some sort of sweet dish for Letton Friday night (Can I be bothered? Maybe not - if people are desparate for something sweet, they could have brought a cake or pie or something.)
work out how to do the Game Pie I'd like to base on a Robert May design - pastry shapes, filling quantity, etc
remind myself what my harp sounds like and where the fingers go, practise enough pieces to be able to do background music at Letton
look up Boars Head words and practise singing it while carrying one
come up with a new story to tell
an entry for Arts & Sciences - maybe finally finish the head-dress to go with the dark blue/tartan gown? And stiffen the collar on that gown.
check status and location of fighting kit, probably mend the gloves
All in two weeks. And that's just Far Isles.
A week later is Mel's Burns Night do - need something to wear, and a performance piece. Dave won't be going, but has decided he'd like the tartan trousers I was going to make anyway. So I need to get them cut out by then, and my matching sash made, and let Mel have her roll of tartan back.
Still need to keep the Swords game I'm running on the move (and write some stories that'll be background to the next bit of plot), play in Hazard Fort, since my PC has the lead at the moment (a RQ game that's been going for six years, and she's being tested to see if she can become an initiate!) Keep working on some background Gloranthan fiction for the Continuum con book in the summer.
More dress-making needed for when the ACW season starts - picked up my Vivandiere skirt and jacket yesterday, and it's very smart! Now I need the breeches and blouse. Oh, and we're going to re-write the Washington Artillery consitution, and there are improvements I want to do to their web-site, and oh yes, the Regimental Dinner is coming up and I'd better plan what I'm cooking for it...
Dave bought me Civ IV for Xmas. Looking at that to-do list, I don't dare install it.
