Xmas dinner

Roast goose. Using the Delia recipe that can be found here. Photos of the process can be found here. And yes, for once we didn't eat at a PC or in front of the TV, we laid it out properly.

Prawn cocktail starter (though despite my having asked Mike what he didn't eat and being told "everything but garlic"), it turned out he didn't like prawns either). Goose, of course. Sausages wrapped in bacon. Forcemeat stuffing, apple&cranberry stuffing. Roast spuds, boiled Anya spuds, honey roast parsnips, parsnip coins in goose fat, sprouts with chestnuts, creamed leeks. No, we did not finish it all. We never did eat the Xmas pudding, but we did have the "light alternative" Dave had bought for tea. Sticky toffee pudding :)
Oh, yes, tea... light nibbles, of course, after that. Gammon, pates, cheeses, breads, salads, that sort of thing. We got a bit short of table space, so stopped there. I think my membership of Over-caterers Anonymous is probably still valid for another year.
A peaceful afternoon and evening spent chatting and watching "Princess Bride" - I'd got the DVD from Santa, and Mum and Dad had never seen it before. Oh, and there was mead....
