The rain saga continues

The picnic I mentioned last post ended up happening in Kelly's room, with many of her friends dropping in and browsing. When the rain stopped we considered going somewhere, maybe somewhere they wanted to see that required a car, but ended up just wandering around the town again (pretty medieval alleys we'd spotted from the Noddy train), then back to our hotel. Fired up the laptop and Kel sorted her email, and used Skype to call her family on the cheap (Fathers' Day).
Then out to another eatery we'd spotted earlier - buffet salad starter, pork Savoyard, and "fromage blanc", which is somewhere between fromage frais and cottage cheese.
Picked up a bag of Kel's stuff to transport home for her, and hugs goodbye before an early night.
Today, more peages. We set the TomTom for Clermont Ferand, knowing that was the one place in the area we did NOT want, then once closer, picked a little village that looked more interesting. The Puy de Dome dominated the view for quite a while, but so did the various masts on top.
We've ended up at Pontgiraud, a little place whose shops are almost all closed on a Monday. Camping by the river, a few minutes walk into "town" watching dragonflies and lizards, then a few more minutes walk out to the supermarket. Lots of good stuff there, we'll take the car tomorrow to stock up on cans of "what's that?", and maybe persuade Dave to experiment with cooking horse, since their butcher does it. I need a horse recipe suitable for a camping burner..
We were about to cook when we heard thunder, so ate quiche in haste (scallop quiche??) and put things away. Rain has not arrived, noises have stopped, and I think I might get the burner out. Marinaded turkey steaks and assorted interesting salads. Probably better for me than sitting here nibbling pistachios.
