A reasonably constructive weekend
Jul. 17th, 2011 05:02 pmWe were meant to have a Sam+Anne coming to see us (possibly with added Bear), but this got put off again due to yet more illness (it was originally a New Year's Eve event..)
Fall-back plan was Kelmarsh Hall, but from the look of the weather, "marsh" would be the operative word.
So I did the multi-stuffed partridges anyway (see previous post) while finshing reading "'Tis" (sequel to "Angela's Ashes"), and have now sorted the bird feeders, dug up the ancient dead rose from the big pot (same one that produced the rose in the userpic, before it was removed from the flowerbed and stuffed in a pot due to an emergency a few years ago), put the aubergine into the Big Pot, sorted out the herb bed, and generally tidied the place up a bit.
We now have two pairs of goldfinches queuing up for the niger seed (they don't like to share a feeder any more than couples in a restaurant want to share a table), and a lot of young and rather gawky teenage starlings trying to sort themselves out despite not having grown all their tail-feathers yet.
Dave's been over to Aldi for the Sunday Specials, and I have a set of mini-pliers that are more suitable for bead-work than the ones I had before - still a bit chunky, but at £5 for a set, can't argue too hard.
Got a script written for work, and am testing it on the staging DB while I write this. And it's just timed out.... let me go and redesign a few bits of that.
Once that's done, we'll be off to a 50th Bday party in Hitchin, we hope. Once...
