I just met a resource that I think a lot of my friends will love.
http://orbis.stanford.edu/#

It's a bit like the Transport for London site - you tell it start and end destinations, travel options, and date of travel, and it works out a route and approximate cost. No turn-by-turn directions, but enough to give you a general idea. Only, this is for the Roman Empire, not the modern world.

Edit to add another one

Not as detailed in terms of options (all you get is From and To) but it does give details of the route.

Last day when I have Dave at home, he's back on day shift tomorrow.
Still needed 10 hours sleep last night, but didn't get a siesta in the afternoon.
We managed to work out how to position perching stool, bowls of water, and so on, and I got a hair-wash over the kitchen sink! That feels a lot better, though it took a lot of standing, hopping, and so on.
I'm juggling two proofread/edit jobs at the moment, both in Glorantha, and what with that and some reading and reviewing of a beta-novel and posting a review of an on-line serial, I think I'll have done about six hours of "work" today, if I do the typing up for the last bit I've got drafted. Leg aches, hands ache despite the cycling gloves I've got to cushion them from all this weight-bearing, and generally tired. We'd planned to do a BBQ this evening, but it's still far too hot outside, and we're both hungry and lacking in energy. So we'll use the grill for the steaks that got marinated earlier, and sit indoors with the air-con. There may be knitting.
Later, there had better be prep for tomorrow, making sure everything I need is in the right place before Dave leaves the house at 6. I do not intend to get up that early!
