Germany trip: start of the Plans

Usually we book the ferry there and the ferry back, and wander at random in between. But this time, it's not just the two of us, it's the complete Strongoak Pirates team, plus junior member, and finding accomodation for five in July is harder than for 2 in May.
Home to Dover, for a 2am ferry, landing us in Dunkirk at 5am. And then... let's see if Google Maps linking will work. Dunkirk to Trier.
I expect we'll stop for breakfast somewhere halfway. In theory we could make Trier for lunchtime, but there's nice places along the way.
Google maps did rather better than the local tourist board (known as "TIT" - don't laugh!) at finding us somewhere to stay. The Mercure, right next to the Porta Nigra. Dave and I have been to Trier before, but not for long enough, and staying way outside. The rest of the Pirates know nothing of Germany beyond Essen and some games show or other.
Two nights there, then up the Moselle and across to the Rhine and Bacharach. We've been there, too, once or twice. Looking back at old photos, we identified the place we'd stayed before. Booked: two nights.
