Tomorrow, the next challenge
Jun. 1st, 2012 10:07 pm Dave's been on a course for the last three days, leaving at 8 and getting back by 5. That means I have him around while I get up, dressed, washed, and down the stairs, and he's home in plenty of time to make dinner.
Tomorrow, he's back on standard shift, and unless I want to be up before 6, I have to do all that without help. If I leave anything upstairs that I wanted downstairs, I'll have to go and get it. Make my own breakfast, make my own lunch (no sandwich in the fridge), and probably start on getting dinner for both of us. Tests over the last few days suggest that I'll be able to cope: but it's a good job I've improved a lot faster than the district nurse expected. She came round to change the dressing today while Dave was out and was amazed that I made it to the door to let her in without sticks.
After that, we get the fun of Dave on nights. I'll be getting myself up the stairs, with everything I need, and that's a bit harder - but again, I've been doing it.
