Not mine - this is my sister ( xuebaochai  on LJ) ringing me up for advice.
Stocking stitch. I rarely knit anything so boring, but she does, and has problems with the edges curling up. Yes, they can be uncurled when you assemble the finished item, but it's a pain. I'm sure somewhere I've seen a technique to stop the curling, but I can't remember where, or what it was. Do any of my knitting friends have any advice?

(Due to the way I crosspost, this will start on Dreamwidth, crosspost to Livejournal, and from there to Facebook. She's only on LJ of those three, so replies there would be ideal, but I'll copy across anything particularly helpful in any case).

Today is my first day with Dave out all day. He was around until just after breakfast, but I still got myself up, dressed, found various bits in the sewing room, and got them and myself downstairs with no help and no sticks.
I've had breakfast and lunch from the fridge, and made myself minor snacks (take slice of bread, spread stuff on it).
I got to the front door to collect a parcel from the delivery man, signed for it, and carried it the required 2 yards to lean it against the hall radiator (it's surprisingly light).

Now, I had a rule today that I would only use energy on things that were actually necessary, because there were going to be quite enough of those. But with the exception of collecting the next batch of tablets from the kitchen, and getting upstairs tonight, that's all done. So...

1) I'd quite like a Diet Coke. We have four 2-litre bottles. To get at them, I need to walk through to the dining room and shift the big box of Kitchen Stuff on the floor, then bend down enough to get a 2-litre bottle out from the plastic wrap, then pick up and carry a 2-litre bottle (yes, at the moment that's a significant weight).

2) That parcel I accepted will contain a new sidetable to have over my chair and put the laptop on - the one I'm using now is flimsy, and bounces as a I type. If I used anything heavier than the netbook, it would probably collapse. It would be nice to have the new table in use. So... should I shift the box into the lounge, open it, and attempt construction?

3) Dinner tonight could involve phoning for a Chinese (a plan moved from last night, when the Chinese was shut), or it could involve Real Cooking, and therefore veg prep (peeling spuds, basically).

Or I could do some light embroidery (a teddy bear needs a Renault badge on his Tshirt).

Or I could carry on reading the various things on tablet and Kindle (the new Pavis book is included here)

Or I could write up a Humakti subcult - too late for Newt and Hearts in Glorantha now, but still worth doing. There's a myth to write up, too.

Or, lacking the caffiene from option 1, I could have a nap.
