Socks. Only not your usual socks. I wear, and have worn for years, grade 2 medical support/compression stockings. They're rather like the things you get sold for stopping thrombosis on aeroplanes, only more so - these things are prescription only. They're thick, ugly, and in that shade known as "flesh" that's a sort of pale brown.

Every pair I have, the heels wear out, leaving a large hole that's far too uncomfortable to wear (this is serious compression, and if a bit of it goes missing, the edges hurt).

Yes, what's on offer is a lot of socks with holes in the heels - but given this rather specialist material, I'm reluctant to just throw them out in case someone with more imagination than me can think of a use for them.

I've spent today sorting and tidying - can you tell? Among other things, I looked through the box of seeds to see what if anything I could start up indoors (then spent hours clearing the shelf any indoor pots would have to live on, and the shelf where the things from that had to go, and...) anyway, I seem to have seeds that are probably OK, but I'm not going to be using. Looks like I picked up a lot of interesting things last time I was in the USA.
