The New Bike, as picked up on Thursday, has now been put to use. I cycled round the corner to the post box, and posted our votes. Then I went round the block, trying out all the gears (and trying out all of 7 gears on an almost-flat residential area takes a bit of doing).
The shop I bought it from keep changing the link to the spec, apparently by changing the product_id every day (let me at their database!) so I've down-loaded a pic and dropped it to my own website
( and here it is under the cut )It's probably been 15 years since I was last on a bike, over 20 since I used it as a regular means of transport. I expected to be unfit. What I hadn't realised was what this lymphodaema had done to my calf muscles. I've just checked that route out on Google Maps, and it's half a mile. I thought it was flat, but I was wrong (just). Out of breath, fair enough, I'd been pushing it deliberately, but I hadn't expected the calf muscles to be so tired that I had problems getting into the house because of the 4 inch step at the front door. Methinks more exercise is needed. Possibly later on I will do another 1/2 mile lap round the block.
