Yummy plum sauce
Feb. 1st, 2010 12:56 pmRecipe from a magazine (the Asda one), and for once a combination of ingredients that would never have occurred to me, so I'm making a note. I even did it almost according to instructions! Well, almost.
Melt 25g butter in a pan.
Add six sliced ripe plums
This is where I differ slightly, due to this being the point of me making it: take that end of a punnet of plums that's partly dried out and partly gone manky, do a "rescue chop", slice what's left)
and cook for 2-3 minutes
Stir in 50ml red wine or apple juice I did apple juice, but these do not seem to me to be equivalents, 100g brown sugar, 3 tbsp soy sauce, 4 tbsp tomato puree or the approx 3 tbsp you have left in the tube and 2 tbsp lime juice.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 4-5 min or until thickened. with no thickening agent, you'll be in for a long wait.
Serve with grilled pork chops, mash, and green beans.
So I did. It was gorgeous.
