The Cough that Will Not Die.

Yet again, woke up around 4am coughing and choking. Have run out of Benylin. Comfrey tea often does good things - this time I looked at the other herby things I'd picked up at Herstmonceaux and added horehound and hyssop, since all three are supposed to fix catarrh. It tastes utterly foul, so a spoonful of honey went in as well. We'll see...

I have made cough concoctions with horehound before and found them very effective. Evil-tasting, as you say, but the stuff seems to work. Don't know about hyssop, never used it.
Hope it gets better soon.

Hyssop is slightly bitter and minty.

Thyme has affinities for the chest and can help relieve coughs. Use sage for a sore throat.

It's the horehound making it taste foul.
Thanks for the additions, I'll raid the Herb Bed for sage and thyme. Maybe use them to flavour some food rather than as tea.
