Flickr is trying to be helpful, but....

"You don't have any photos matching trebuchet. Would you like to try a search for photos about castle, dordogne, france, catapult or pumpkin instead? "

Castle I can understand. Catapult I can understand. Pumpkin????

If memory serves there was a university (in America IIRC) that did (or maybe does every year - fuzzy memory) an event involving using a trebuchet to fling pumpkins for distances to see the effect. Also possibly what happened if you made changes to the pumpkins, like freezing them.

Type pumpkin trebuchet into google, and all will become clear(ish).

When I was a member of the Medieval Siege Society, we regularly shot cabbages out of our trebuchet... Maybe pumpkins have similar air-borne properties?

Thank you all - I now know more ways of propelling a pumpkin through the air than I had ever imagined existed.#

My guess, reading your LJ, would be that the breadcrumb trail started at Project Download?

Sure, you're very welcome to my icon. It's the only one I've ever made, so now I've got a happy warm glow that someone likes it :) Photo by me, haiku written by me, so no other credits to pass on.
