And another good place to eat
Feb. 7th, 2011 12:46 pmThis time it's a "fusion" Indian - I'm not sure what it got fused with, possibly France.
Lounge India, recently opened up the road in Sandy. Their website isn't qute ready yet, but have a link for when it is.
They do a Sunday buffet for £9 or so, but having heard what was on there we said "so that's the same as everyone else does, then?" and headed for the main menu. I don't remember full details (and much of what we had isn't on the take-away menu I picked up), but Dave's starter involved lamb's liver and mine was oysters, tikka salmon, and a Prawn. Mains: a fairly normal chicken dish for him, and Komla Duck for me - a leg of duck confit in a sweet&sour orange sauce. Veg sides included something called "Mitta Koda" that involved butternut squash and I want the recipe for, and our usual sag paneer - more like paneer with a bit of sag, in this case. Every dish was perfect - meat cooked so as to be tender and juicy, vegetables retaining their own flavour as well as blending with the rest of the dish, superb presentation.
The service was excellent - but then, it should have been, because we were the only customers :( Maybe the Chinese a few doors down doing a New Year Special had tempted people away, maybe it was just Sunday night quietness, but they deserve a lot more custom than that.
That lot, rice, breads, desserts, and a couple of beers each came to about £50.
Quantities? I let spinach go uneaten, and Dave refused his final wafer-thin mint :(
