Chocolate is depressing.

It is when it convinces me I'm old and past it, anyway. Today, the canteen are selling Freddo Frogs. They're 15p. They're a nice-size lump of chocolate for a mid-afternoon nibble.

But, since Freddo has been sadly absent from my life for some considerable time, this brought back memories of the first time I bought one. Freddo was the most expensive item in the school tuckshop, at 2d. Yes, old pence. I got 1d a school day pocket money, so Freddo meant saving up, and serious financial decisions. I could go without sweets entirely for one day so as to have Freddo the next, or I could get complicated and only spend 1/2d on sweets for two days in a row - that 1/2d would get me two Trebor Chews, or Blackjacks (but I didn't like Blackjacks). High finance, for a four-year-old. Any budgetary ability I have now probably started with Freddo. 15p, and the cheapest chocolate on the canteen shelf? That's just wrong!

Also, on inspection, I was done. The wrapper does not include a highly sophisticated and intellectual (for a four-year-old) frog-based joke.
