Away this weekend playing artillery again

A quick post over lunch, then the afternoon off to drive up to Bridlington this afternoon - Dave is packing the car as I type, I hope. ACWS but as motel militia, staying in a B&B called "Bluebells". Dave tells me it has WIFI.

Last time we were up there we did Fredricksburg and Maryse Heights - this time it's the Union's turn to win, and it's Pickett's Charge. I am so glad I'm artillery not infantry... we get to do the massive Conferderate artillery barrage just before the charge, the one that was meant to get rid of the Union artillery, and appeared to do so. Our orders are to chuck as much powder down the field as we can, so let's see what we can do to that 4 shots a minute record!

The Washington Artillery having folded as a reenactment unit and turned into a social club, we're with the Rockbridge this time - and Dave is a Sergeant. I have sewn stripes onto his new grey jacket, and will sew more onto his Washington green one as he drives up.

The laptop is going with me, because I need to put the finishing touches to the article and story for Newt over this weekend.

Is that the Kallyr story? I was going to suggest you give it to Newt!

It's "a" Kallyr story, I don't think you've seen this one. "Lookout Hill" It goes with the article, demonstrates how to use it. How to take the little location myths in DP and turn them into scenarios (or stories). Locals do a regular reenactment of the myth, calling in PC types to help for obscure roles. In this case, the King of the Kheldon calls in his niece to take the Vanganth role, over the objections of his advisors who think she's a annoying troublemaker. Things don't quite go according to plan...

Which one were you saying I should give to Newt? And why?

I handed stuff back to Fabian eighteen months ago, but we've not been able to find a new editor. So nothing is likely to happen for quite a while.

It folded? I never knew that. I kept asking what was happening, but never got an answer.
I'm on PDA at the moment, and don't have those files with me - could you pass it to Newt, with your offer of illos? If not, I'll make contact when I get back. I don't think I've even got his email address here.

I've mentioned it on several occasions, kept wondering why you kept asking... :)

Not to worry... our little community has being going through a lot of confusion of late, and people know I've been slow on projects for purely domestic reasons.

I hope that YBOT can continue in some form, and will I always help when I can, but the endless chasing of people who wouldn't submit finals got to me more than a bit. (Not you of course).

I'd be *delighted* to offer illustrations if you think it would add something. I'm in deadline mode myself till 9 June, but could submit somethng to you and newt a week or two afterwards.

I knew you had had delays and problems, but had no idea you'd given up completely. As far as I was concerned, that story was reserved for you.

Newt's deadline for this issue is end of May, and the things I had planned will suit him better anyway. There's other things he's having from me for the Xmas issue, too.

What I'd rather do with this is let Andre have it for Tradetalk. That gives you some time to do illos, which would be great! He could have the other Londar story as well, and then they come out in hardcopy in the right order.
I'll see what Donald thinks, but he likes Andre too.
